Imigran is the branded version of the medicine Sumatriptan. This migraine treatment presents itself in the same formulation and strength as Sumatriptan. These migraine tablets are an oral medication used to alleviate a migraine attack. While this medication can reduce the symptoms of migraine headaches, it is not a migraine treatment, nor does it prevent migraine attacks from happening.

While Imigran tablets do not themselves cause Serotonin Syndrome, Serotonin Syndrome has been reported after patients took triptans and Serotonin noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) together.
There are no specific requirements to take Imigran with, or without, food. It works to treat migraine symptoms whenever you need it.
You may want to avoid alcohol during a migraine as this could make it worse. However, it will not make Imigran medication less effective.
Although Imigran is not affected by the contraceptive pill, migraines can be linked to hormonal changes during your period.
This treatment often relieves other symptoms that occur together with a migraine headache, such as nausea, tension, vomiting and sensitivity to light. If you have a regular headache, you should use ordinary painkillers like paracetamol.
Imigran can make you feel tired or sleepy. If this happens, avoid driving or using heavy machinery for your safety.
Imigran tablets should not be taken by patients who have had myocardial infarction, or have symptoms or signs of ischaemic heart disease, coronary vasospasm, or peripheral vascular disease.
You should also not take ergotamine or derivatives of ergotamine (including methysergide), or any triptan/5-hydroxytryptamine 1 (5-HT1) receptor agonist when you're taking Sumatriptan tablets.
You should also not take monoamine oxidase inhibitors when taking sumatriptan either, and refrain from taking Imigran tablets within two weeks of taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors.
