Acnecide 5% w/w Gel – 60g

Acne is a type of inflammatory disorder of the skin. It happens when your hair follicles get blocked with dead skin and oil cells, leading to pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and skin irritation. The skin condition occurs mainly among teens, but it can affect anyone, whatever their age. To treat acne effectively, apply a thin layer of gel to all the affected areas.

Apply Benzoyl Peroxide Acnecide Gel once a day to the affected area(s), but it can be used twice a day if advised. This gel is a suitable hydrous Benzoyl Peroxide equivalent. Avoid contact with eyes and use on damaged skin.

Each case differs, but most people see results within four to eight weeks. It really depends on how your skin responds to the treatment, but it's essential to apply it as advised by your doctor or pharmacist.

Failing to use it frequently or missing applications can mean the gel takes longer to have an effect.

Other acne treatments may not be necessary alongside Acnecide, as it contains the active ingredient Benzoyl Peroxide. Using cosmetics that may cause a flare-up of your skin is also not recommended.

Many people notice irritation and dryness when first beginning treatment with Acnecide Gel, but these side effects usually wear off as your skin gets used to it.

However, using a moisturiser with the gel can be beneficial, as it hydrates your skin.

The skin needs time to adjust to the medication, and Acencide Gel can initially appear to worsen acne. However, this is usually due to the treatment unblocking pores, which can lead to an initial outbreak.

If you don't see any improvements in your acne after a few weeks, it's best to book an appointment with your GP or a dermatologist. They can recommend other topical treatments that might have a greater impact.

Plenty of OTC treatments contain low levels of benzoyl peroxide, which can be beneficial for mild acne.
