Zinc is an essential mineral for normal cognitive function, digestion, blood sugar balance, immune system function, cell division, muscle, skin, hair, nails, fertility, eyes and vision maintenance. Alpha Tri-Zinc contains 3 different forms of zinc to optimize its absorption by the body: citrate, bisglycinate and mono-L-methionine sulfate (OptiZinc®). Zinc linked to methionine is the best absorbable form for the body.
- Strengthens resistance to infections and chronic inflammatory diseases.
- Helps with hair loss and skin problems.
- Supports bone formation, prevention of osteoporosis.
- Important for prevention of facial disorders.
- Increased requirement in vegetarian/vegan diet.
- Free of allergens (gluten-containing grains, soy, milk, egg, fish, crustaceans, celery, mustard, tree nuts, sesame seeds, sulfite, lupin, mollusks and groundnuts).
Use instructions
1 tablet per day, preferably taken with a meal that does not contain bread, pasta or cereals.
Recommendations
- Can be taken long-term. Long-term administration of zinc requires support with a general vitamin and mineral supplement. For optimal absorption, it is best to take your multivitamins and minerals with a meal other than Alfa Tri-Zinc. Eg: Alpha Tri-Zinc in the morning and your multivitamins and minerals in the evening.
- Copper is the antagonist of zinc. Administering zinc at doses greater than 50 mg/day for more than 60 days requires supplementation of 1-2 mg copper/day. You then take zinc in the morning and copper in the evening or vice versa.
- A zinc supplement may decrease the absorption of an anti-inflammatory (such as ibuprofen, naproxen, piroxicam, indomethacin). Do not take these at the same time.
- In pregnancy, folic acid or vitamin B9 is often advised. A dose higher than 1 mg per day increases the need for zinc supplementation.
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are advised to take a maximum of 1 tablet of Alpha Tri-Zinc per day.
- Notify your doctor if you are taking zinc along with potassium-sparing diuretics, as they may decrease zinc excretion, or diabetes medications, as zinc may increase insulin release and insulin sensitivity.
