Properties

Amiflex is a dietary supplement for maintaining healthy joints and supporting a smooth musculoskeletal system in humans. Amiflex is also used to meet the increased nutrient requirements of the musculoskeletal system under heavy stress.

The building blocks for cartilage cells have a long way to go before they can be incorporated into the cells. Just below the inner lining layer (synovial membrane) of the joint capsules is a loose connective tissue with many capillaries and lymphatic vessels. The nutrients that exit the capillaries are delivered to the synovial fluid in the joint cavity. Through regular joint movements, the synovial fluid mixes and the nutrients reach the cartilage surface. The concentration gradient causes diffusion and the nutrients eventually reach the cartilage cells.

Joint cartilage is composed primarily of three elements that provide flexibility, elasticity and strength: proteoglycans to attract and retain water, collagen to fix the proteoglycans and cartilage cells. Cartilage cells play an important role in maintaining tissue integrity by synthesizing collagen, proteoglycans and enzymes of cartilage metabolism.

Active ingredients

• Amiflex contains undenatured or native collagen type II to interact with the immune system. When cartilage is damaged, fragments (foreign bodies) enter the synovial fluid. The immune system responds (immune response) with an inflammatory reaction, forming antibodies against collagen type II. Supplementation of undenatured collagen type II in low doses (milligrams) desensitizes the immune system, preventing further degeneration of collagen fibers. Specific components (epitopes) of the intact helix structure, when taken orally, are recognized by the immune system at the level of the Peyer’s plates in the last part of the small intestinal wall (ileum). After contact between undenatured collagen type II and the Peyer’s plates, regulatory T cells (Tregs) in the intestinal mucosa suppress the immune response. The specifically formed regulatory T cells migrate to the joint and reduce the inflammatory response. This mechanism of action is called oral tolerance.
• Amiflex contains pomegranate extract that protects cartilage cells. The peel of the pomegranate is rich in punicalagins. Those water-soluble low molecular weight polyphenols are powerful natural antioxidants that help fight oxidative stress. Pomegranate extract is useful in maintaining the integrity and function of joints.
• Amiflex contains the free amino acids L-glycine, L-proline, S-adenosylmethionine, L-alanine and L-lysine for the synthesis of collagen. Collagen is a structural protein. It makes up one-third of the solids in bone tissue and half of the dry weight of cartilage. Collagen provides resilience.
• Amiflex contains glucosamine as a precursor to the glycosaminoglycans chondroitin sulfate and hyaluronic acid, an important component of the extracellular cartilage matrix (ECM) and synovial fluid. Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) are bound to a core protein with formation of proteoglycans. Proteoglycans bind water molecules, providing strength and shock absorption. The viscosity of joint fluid depends mainly on the content of hyaluronic acid. Glucosamine is a small molecule that easily migrates through the wall of capillaries and into the synovial fluid.
• Amiflex contains the cofactors vitamin C, vitamin B6 and manganese. Vitamin C contributes to the synthesis of collagen. Vitamin B6 contributes to the formation of interconnections and bridges (cross-links) between collagen fibers. Manganese contributes to the polymerization of glucosamine.

Instructions for use

1 tablet per day with a glass of water in the evening for 2 to 3 months.

1 tablet of Amiflex contains the ingredients 1.6 mg undenatured or native collagen type II, 750 mg glucosamine sulfate (2KCL), 300 mg garnet tree extract (Punica granatum L.), 100 mg L-glycine, 100 mg L-proline, 50 mg S-adenosylmethionine, 35 mg L-alanine, 25 mg L-lysine, 90 mg vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid, 82% RDA), 3 mg vitamin B6 (pyridoxine HCL, 100% RDA), 1.5 mg manganese sulfate (15% RDA), 100 mg lecithin (phosphatidylcholine, E322), 50 mg silicon dioxide (anti-caking agent, E551), 30 mg magnesium stearate (anti-caking agent, E572), 50 mg stearic acid (anti-caking agent), 40 mg hydroxypropyl cellulose (stabilizer, E463), 6 mg sodium carboxymethylcellulose (stabilizer, E466), 335 mg microcrystalline cellulose (filler, E460i), 40 mg hypromellose (coating, E464) and 2 mg glycerin (emulsifier, E422).
