Properties

Atrauman Ag is a non-adherent wound contact layer suitable for the treatment of chronic ulcer cruris, diabetic leg ulcers and pressure ulcers. This device is also suitable for the treatment of acute first- and second-degree burns. Atrauman Ag is suitable for the treatment of human skin by professional users. The thin, soft and flexible support material ensures good contact with the wound. The surface of the fabric and the ointment mass prevent adhesion to the wound. As a result, the dressing can be removed painlessly. Bacteria are killed on the surface of the pad by the silver ions created in the moist environment. Atrauman Ag actively works against gram-negative (e.g. Klebsiella pneumoniae) and gram-positive bacteria (e.g. Staphylococcus aureus, including MRSA strains). The ointment mass protects the wound edges and prevents maceration. The ointment contains no active ingredients and no kerosene.

Recommendations

• Before treatment of infected wounds, a medical assessment of the wound is necessary and the causes of infection must be determined.
• Atrauman Ag treatment cannot replace necessary antibiotic therapy.
• Atrauman Ag should be combined with an appropriate wound dressing (absorbent or superabsorbent dressings, foam dressings, or gauze).
• Do not use Atrauman Ag in patients who are hypersensitive to any of its ingredients.
• Do not use on dry wounds.
• The wound dressing should not be used in combination with paraffin-containing ointments or wound dressings. This may limit the effectiveness of Atrauman Ag.
• Atrauman Ag should not be used in combination with iodine-containing preparations.
