Aureomycin Eye Ointment 1% | 5 g

Aureomycin Eye Ointment 1% is a chlorotetracycline-based eye ointment used to treat eye infections caused by tetracycline-sensitive germs.

Directions for use

Aureomycin is a drug for external use to be applied to the eyes. Apply approximately 1 cm of Aureomycin 1% Eye Ointment every two hours to the cover crease of the lower eyelid.

Severe infections may require long-term treatment, sometimes in combination with antibiotics taken by mouth. Your doctor will tell you how long to use Aureomycin 1% Eye Ointment. Do not stop treatment prematurely because symptoms may return if not all the bacteria are killed.

Composition

The active ingredient in Aureomycin Eye Ointment is: 10 mg of chlorotetracycline hydrochloride per g of eye ointment. The other substances in this drug are: liquid kerosene, lanolin and petroleum jelly.

Warnings

Avoid using Aureomycin Eye Ointment if you are allergic to any of the substances in this medicine. If new infections occur during treatment, stop treatment and notify your doctor. In case of severe adverse reactions or hypersensitivity, you should discontinue treatment. Although the adverse effects on tooth formation (discoloration, insufficient formation of tooth enamel) observed after administration of tetracyclines by mouth were not reported after administration into the eye, caution should be exercised when using tetracycline-containing ointments in children under 8 years of age.

Possible side effects.

Like any medicine, Aureomycin can have side effects, although not everyone gets them. Possible side effects include:

• Increased tear secretion.
• Temporary foreign body sensation.
• Irritating or burning sensation in the eyes.
• Impaired vision after applying the ointment.
• Allergic reaction.
• Inflammation of the skin.

Storage

Store Aureomycin Eye Ointment below 25°C and out of the sight of children. Do not use the ointment after the expiration date.
