Calci-Chew is a medicine in the form of chewable tablets and contains calcium, which is important for bone formation. Calci-Chew is used in the prevention and treatment of calcium deficiency, and as a supplement in conjunction with specific treatment of osteoporosis (osteoporosis).
Directions for use
Always use Calci-Chew 500 mg exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. The tablet may be chewed or sucked. If you have taken too much of Calci-Chew, contact your doctor, pharmacist or the Poison Control Center (070/245.245) immediately. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten tablet.
Dosage
- The recommended dosage for adults is 500-1500 mg of calcium per day.
- The recommended dosage for children is 500-1000 mg of calcium per day.
Composition
The active substance in one tablet is 1250 mg of calcium carbonate (corresponding to 500 mg of calcium). The other substances are: Xylitol (E967), povidone, isomalt (E953), flavoring (orange), magnesium stearate, sucralose (E955), mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids.
Warnings
Do not use Calci-Chew if you are allergic to any of the substances in Calci-Chew, have large amounts of calcium in your blood or urine, or have kidney stones. Be extra careful if you take diuretics or heart glycosides, have excessive amounts of calcium in the blood or show signs of impaired kidney function, or have had kidney stones in the past.
Possible side effects
Like any medicine, Calci-Chew 500 mg can have side effects, although not everyone gets them. Possible side effects include dyspepsia, constipation, flatulence, nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea, itching and skin rashes. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you experience any side effects.
Storage instructions
Store Calci-Chew out of the sight and reach of children, below 30°C in the plastic tablet container and below 25°C in the blister pack. Keep the tablet container carefully closed to protect against moisture. Can be kept for 6 months after opening.
