Canestene Gyn Clotrimazole 2% | 20 g

Canestene Gyn Clotrimazole 2% contains clotrimazole and is a drug against fungal diseases and certain bacteria. Canestene Gyn cream is used to treat inflammation of the vaginal mucosa (vaginitis) caused by fungi (usually Candida). You can recognize a vaginal fungal infection by itching, burning sensation, red swollen painful labia and a white lumpy odorless discharge.

This medicine is especially suitable for patients with a rather dry vagina. This medicine is also used to treat inflammation of the external female and/or male genital organs.

Instructions for use

• The recommended dosage is 1 treatment per day for 3 consecutive days.
• The cream is best inserted in the evening, before going to bed, as deeply as possible.
• The cream is best inserted in a supine position, legs slightly raised and spread.
• The applicator is used only once. A new applicator should be used for each application.

Composition

The active substance in this drug is: clotrimazole 20 mg. The other substances in this drug are: sorbitan monostearate, polysorbate 60, cetaceum, cetylstearyl alcohol, 2-octyldodecanol, benzyl alcohol, purified water sufficient for 1 g of cream.

Warnings

Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine if:

• You have suffered from a fungal infection in the vagina more than three times in the past year.
• You have had a sexually transmitted disease in the past.
• Your partner has a sexually transmitted disease.
• You are pregnant or suspect pregnancy.
• You are under 16 years of age.
• You have fever (38°C or more), low abdominal pain (low abdominal pain), back pain, unpleasant-smelling vaginal discharge, nausea, vaginal bleeding, and/or shoulder pain.

Are you using other medicines besides Canestene Gyn, or have you done so recently, or is there a possibility that you may use other medicines in the near future? If so, please tell your doctor or pharmacist. Are you pregnant, think you might be pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding? Always read the package leaflet before taking this medicine.

Possible side effects

Like all medicines, Canestene Gyn Clotrimazole 2% can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Possible side effects are:

• Immune system disorders: allergic reactions (fainting (syncope), (too) low blood pressure (hypotension), breathing difficulties, hives).
• Reproductive system and breast disorders: scaling at the level of the genitals, itching, rash, swelling (edema), discomfort, redness, burning sensation, irritation, pain at the level of the pelvis, vaginal bleeding.
• Gastrointestinal disorders: abdominal pain.

Storage

Store this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use it after the expiration date.
