The active ingredient in Cetirizine EG 10 mg is cetirizine dihydrochloride, an antihistamine that counteracts allergic reactions. The drug is used for the relief of allergic nose and eye complaints, as well as chronic hives in adults and children 6 years and older.
Indication
- Treatment of seasonal and non-seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever, house dust mite allergy)
- Treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives)
How to use
- Adults and adolescents 12 years and older: 1 tablet of 10 mg daily.
- Children 6 to 12 years of age: 5 mg twice daily (half a tablet twice a day).
Take the tablet with water. The tablet can be divided into two equal parts.
Side effects
- Common (up to 1 in 10 users): drowsiness, dizziness, headache, strep throat, diarrhea, nausea, dry mouth, fatigue.
- Uncommon (up to 1 in 100): agitation, tingling, abdominal pain, rash, itching, feeling of weakness.
- Rare (up to 1 in 1,000): allergic reactions, depression, hallucinations, insomnia, convulsions, rapid heartbeat, liver disorders, edema, weight gain.
- Very rarely (up to 1 in 10,000): fainting, involuntary movements, taste disturbances, blurred vision, severe allergic reactions (angioedema), bedwetting, urinary problems.
- Not known (frequency unknown): increased appetite, nightmares, memory loss, itching and hives after stopping, joint pain, rash with pus, liver inflammation.
