Features
Self-adhesive and semi-occlusive gel compress made of medical silicone for the care of existing and new hypertrophic or keloid scars (with wild flesh) or in closed wounds to prevent scarring.
The self-adhesive gel compress is soft, comfortable and easy to apply. It can be cut to size to fit most scars. It is durable and reusable and can be worn at night or during the day. It is hypoallergenic and safe to use on children.
Each cut piece lasts up to one month. The best results are obtained after 2 to 4 months of treatment. The gel pad should be washed twice daily.
Use Instructions
- Wash hands before and after use
- Wash the scar and surrounding skin gently with a mild soap and rinse with clean, warm water. Dry the scar and surrounding skin thoroughly.
- Open the package and remove the gel compress.
- Cut one piece of gel compress to the size of the scar, with a small overlap on the surrounding skin. Store the remaining piece in a dry place (in the package).
- Remove the printed cover sheet.
- Apply the gel compress without stretching it and with the sticky side facing the scar. If necessary, use a light windel, adhesive plaster or OPSITE FLEXFIX to hold CICA-CARE in place.
- Do not press the gel compress too tightly against the scar, as this may cause irritation of the scar and surrounding skin.
- Wear CICA-CARE for 4 hours during the first two days during the day or night.
- The next two days wear CICA-CARE for 8 hours each time at night or during the day.
- Further increase the wearing time by 2 hours per day until a minimum of 12 hours per day are reached.
- If possible, CICA-CARE should be worn 24 hours per day. Wash CICA-CARE twice daily with a mild soap (neutral pH). Rinse thoroughly.
- Before reapplying the gel compress, wash the scar and surrounding skin with a mild soap. Dry with a lint-free towel.
- When CICA-CARE begins to show wear or when cleaning becomes more difficult, it should be replaced. This is on average after 14 to 28 days.
- With proper use, the total treatment should remain within the time limit of 2 to 4 months.
Recommendations
- Skin irritation was observed in some patients. This may be due to poor hygiene or applying the gel compress too tightly.
- Puritus and maceration of the skin may also be associated with the use of silicone gel. In this case, it is recommended to alternate 12 h of treatment with 12 h of rest.
- Cica-care should be used only after the sutures have been removed.
- Do not use on open wounds.
