Properties

Cubitan® is the recommended supplemental nutrition for bedsores. This energy- and protein-rich milk-based drinking formula, enriched with micronutrients, plays an important role in the inflammatory process and wound healing. Cubitan® is also fiber- and gluten-free. It contains a lot of protein. This is no coincidence: protein is essential for proper wound healing. Protein provides energy and building materials in the form of amino acids. In bedsores, about 40 grams per day is needed for the production of new tissue and new blood vessels. In addition, the amount of protein lost due to the bedsore must be replenished. Proteins are also important building blocks of the immune system.

Use instructions

The degree to which you should use Cubitan® depends on the severity of the wound. This is expressed in degrees:

• Grade I: 1 bottle of Cubitan® per day, in addition to normal diet.
• Grade II: 2 bottles of Cubitan® per day, in addition to normal diet.
• Grade III: 3 vials of Cubitan® per day, supplemental to the normal diet.
• Grade IV: 3 vials of Cubitan® per day, supplemental to the normal diet.

Cubitan® is a supplement to the normal diet, it should not be at the expense of daily meals. Therefore, use the bottles between main meals and spread the intake as much as possible throughout the day.
