Dafalgan Forte 1 g is used in the symptomatic treatment of pain and fever. This medicine is an analgesic (analgesic) and an antipyretic (it acts to reduce fever).

Directions for use

Always use Dafalgan Forte exactly as described in the package insert or as told to you by your doctor or pharmacist.

• The recommended dose is 3 g of paracetamol per day.
• The dose can be increased to a maximum of 4 g of paracetamol per day in case of more severe pain.
• The administration of 4 g of paracetamol per day should be limited to a duration of 4 weeks.
• For treatment of longer duration, the daily dose should be limited to 3 g of paracetamol per day.
• Systematic use may prevent fluctuations in pain or fever, but one should always observe an interval of at least 4 hours between takes.

Composition

Dafalgan Forte contains paracetamol. The other substances are anhydric citric acid, sodium hydrogen carbonate, anhydric sodium carbonate, sorbitol (E420), sodium docusate, povidone, sodium benzoate (E211), grapefruit/orange flavoring (fructose, glucose and sucrose), sodium saccharin.

Warnings

Be extra careful with Dafalgan Forte 1 g if you are allergic to paracetamol, phenacetin or any of the other substances in this medicine. Contact your doctor if medical tests have indicated a serious condition of the liver or kidneys. Do not drink alcohol during treatment with paracetamol. Contact your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you suffer from kidney or liver disease, if you regularly consume large amounts of alcohol, or if you have a deficiency of the enzyme called glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase.

Like any medicine, Dafalgan Forte 1 g can have side effects. These may include allergic reactions, headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, constipation (constipation), problems with liver function, yellow skin or eyes, itchy skin, rash, excessive sweating, angioedema, urticaria (hives), redness of the skin, purpura, dizziness, malaise, overdose and intoxication.
