Properties

Elimax® Shampoo is a transparent liquid consisting of specially developed oil and a lice protective factor (LPF®). The special polymer oil was specifically selected for maximum action against head lice. The oil has a double action: it blocks the louse’s airway and dries out the insect’s skin, causing it to shrivel. Elimax® Shampoo contains no neurotoxic insecticides, so there is no risk of developing resistance. Elimax® Shampoo does not contain silicone (dimethicone), so it does not leave grease in the hair. For maximum protection against new lice, Elimax® Shampoo contains LPF®. That factor makes the hair unattractive to lice. Hair treated with Elimax® Shampoo is less likely to be infested by new lice.

Active ingredients

LPF® is a mixture of a polymer (acrylate) and oil-soluble ingredients that makes it harder for lice to crawl on the hair. Research showed that lice are less likely to stay on hair and tissue treated with Elimax® Shampoo.

Use instructions

Use Elimax® Shampoo when you suspect lice. Check the hair after 7 days. If lice are still present after 7 days, repeat the treatment. To protect against a new infestation, you can use Elimax® Shampoo regularly as a preventive measure.

• Step 1: Apply the shampoo to dry hair. Place a towel on shoulders and around neck to prevent product from dripping onto skin and clothing. Use the convenient applicator to apply the Elimax® Shampoo directly to the hair and scalp. Spread the shampoo over all hair and scalp. Massage well from roots to ends, paying extra attention to the area behind the ears and the hairline at the back of the head. Leave on for 15 minutes and continue combing (see step 2). Do not cover the hair.
• Step 2: Comb the hair immediately after applying Elimax®. By gently combing the hair afterwards with the Elimax® Lice Comb with fine teeth, the treatment has a higher success rate. Comb the hair with a regular comb or brush to remove any knots in the hair and divide the hair into 4 sections: from the forehead to the neck and then from one ear to the other. Then comb each section with the Elimax® Lice Comb with fine teeth, starting as close to the head as possible. Always comb from the top of the head down. Periodically wipe the lice comb clean with a cotton pad to remove any lice and nits. Set aside any hair strand that is lice/net-free.
• Step 3: Wash hair after 15 minutes (including combing time). First apply a small amount of water to the treated hair to lather the product. Then rinse the lather thoroughly with plenty of water. The product is easier to rinse out with lukewarm water. Make sure the product does not run into the eyes. There is no need to wash the hair again with regular shampoo. Dry the hair thoroughly with a towel. Do not use a hair dryer. If you apply the product in the evening, the hair should be completely dry before bedtime. Check the hair after 7 days. In most cases, one treatment is sufficient. If lice are still present after 7 days, repeat the treatment.

Recommendations

• When used correctly, Elimax® Shampoo is well tolerated. In rare cases, the following side effects may occur: skin rash and irritation, slightly swollen or stinging eyes, flaky scalp.
• There are no data on use by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you have lice while pregnant or nursing, you should contact your doctor.
• This product is only suitable for head lice (no pubic or body lice).
• Not suitable for children under 12 months of age.
• Do not use this product if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.
• In case of a rash or signs of irritation/allergy, stop treatment immediately and wash hair with your regular shampoo.
• Do not use this product if the scalp is already very irritated or damaged.
• In severe cases (> 25 lice/head) it may be necessary to apply the product several times.
• Avoid contact with mouth/eyes (e.g., by covering mouth/eyes with a washcloth).
• Rinse thoroughly with water if the product comes in contact with the eyes.
• Please call a doctor or the Poison Control Center in case of accidental ingestion or inhalation.
• Rinse the product very well.
• Always leave the product on for the full 15 minutes, but no longer.
• Do not use the product sealed. So do not cover the hair with a shower cap or aluminum foil.
• Prevent the product from dripping on the body (neck, shoulders and chest) by placing a towel on the shoulders.
• If the product comes in contact with the skin, wash the skin with soap.
• If you apply the product in the evening, the hair must be completely dry before going to bed.
• Only for external use.
• Store out of the reach of children.
• Flammability risk: keep treated hair away from fire, flames or hot objects (candles, fireplace, hair dryer, stove …). Never smoke during use or treatment.
• Store the product between 5°C and 25°C and protect from light.
