Epitact® has developed a Hallux Valgus Protector consisting of a gel pad of Epithelium 26® which reduces pressure and friction at the level of the “lump”. In this way, pain is relieved and callus formation is avoided. Do you suffer from a lump on the foot? Even if the deformity is not easy to see, wearing shoes soon hurts. The conflict with the shoe creates pain on the bony bulge, and extreme pressure and friction causes calluses to form. So you need to place an interface between the shoe and the “bump” that can distribute the load and relieve the pain. This is done by the silicone gel Epithelium 26® integrated into EPITACT®’s Hallux Valgus Protector. A 1 mm thick cushion of Epithelium 26® on the “lump” helps reduce friction without causing additional pressure due to a lack of space in the shoes.

• The protection is easily applied and stays firmly in place.
• The Hallux Valgus Protector can be washed in the washing machine at 40°C in the included laundry bag.
• If you wear the protector every day and wash it as you should, you can keep it for several months.
• Suitable for both the left and right foot.
• Composition: 39% silicone, 61% polyamide/elastane fabric.

Use instructions

• The protection should be worn on the skin, on either the left or right foot.
• Slide the foot into the protection with the big toe in the tubular part. The Epithelium 26® gel module should be placed on the hallux valgus.
• For optimal attachment, do not wear barefoot but with a stocking, pantyhose or sock over it large enough to prevent compression of the foot.

Recommendations

• This device is a simple protection that is not intended to correct hallux valgus. If your big toe is still laterally mobile, the Correcting Orthosis Hallux Valgus can help you to limit the evolution of the deformity.
• Do not use on an unprotected wound.
• People suffering from arthritis, diabetes, polyneuropathy, neuropathy of the lower limbs or ulcers: seek advice from your doctor or podiatrist, then monitor your foot during use.
