The Cushions with Double Protection are specially designed for individuals with hallux valgus (or “lump”), as well as pain on the underside of the forefoot. That pain can be accompanied by calluses (lumps), redness and even a burning sensation. For you, are a “lump” and pain on the sole of the foot the same thing? This is not surprising: if the deformity is large enough, the big toe can no longer perform its role of support. The pressure is then exerted on the foot at the base of the 2nd and 3rd toe. In these enormously stressed areas, the consequences quickly make themselves felt: calluses form and a callus layer appears. Stepping becomes painful. So the idea is to protect the bone protrusion or “bump”, but also to distribute the pressure at the bottom of the foot. That’s what EPITACT®’s dual-protection pads do.

• The pads contain the silicone gel Epithelium 26®, to distribute pressure, under the sole of the foot (2.2 mm thick) and at the hallux valgus (1 mm thick).
• The pads are discreet and thin, and you can wear them in your regular closed shoes.
• The pads can be machine washed at 30°C.
• They last for a long time: on average a few months
• Sizes: S = 36-38; M = 39-41; L = 42-45.

Recommendations

The dual-protection pads are simple protections. They are not intended to correct hallux valgus. If your big toe can still be moved back and forth, you can use Epitact’s double-corrective orthosis to limit the evolution of the deformity.
