Gaviscon Antacid Antireflux | 300 ml

Gaviscon Antacid-Antireflux is a combination of two antacids (calcium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate) and an alginate. Gaviscon Antacid-Antireflux neutralizes excessive stomach acid, reducing pain and discomfort, and forms a protective layer over the stomach contents, which can last for up to 4 hours, to relieve the burning sensation in your chest area. This drug is used to treat acid-related symptoms caused by reflux of acidic stomach contents into the esophagus. Complaints may include heartburn, acid regurgitation and indigestion and may occur, for example, after meals or during pregnancy.

Directions for use

• Shake well before use.
• Use in adults, including the elderly, and children 12 years and older: 10-20 ml after meals and before bedtime, up to four times daily.
• Use in children under 12 years of age: use only on medical advice.

Warnings

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine:

• If you have or have had kidney or heart disease, certain salts may affect these conditions.
• If you have severe kidney problems.
• If you have electrolyte disorder that causes low phosphate levels in the blood (hypophosphatemia).
• If you have a reduced amount of stomach acid in the stomach, as this product may be less effective.

As with the use of other drugs that neutralize stomach acid, the use of this drug may cause symptoms of other, more serious, underlying medical conditions to go undetected. Do you still have symptoms after 7 days? If so, contact your doctor.

Composition

The active ingredients in each 10 ml are 500 mg of sodium alginate, 213 mg of sodium bicarbonate and 325 mg of calcium carbonate. The other substances in this medicine are carbomer, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), sodium saccharin, peppermint flavoring, sodium hydroxide and water.

Possible side effects

Like any medicine, Gaviscon Antacid-Antireflux can have side effects, although not everyone gets them. If you get a side effect, you should stop taking this medicine and contact your doctor immediately. In very rare cases (in fewer than 1 in 10,000 users), an allergic reaction to one of the substances in this drug may occur. Possible symptoms may include abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, skin rash, itching, dizziness, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat and difficulty breathing.

• Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiration date.
• Store below 30°C. Do not store in the refrigerator or freezer.
• Use within 6 months of opening.
