Hydroxocobalamin Acetate Sterop 10 mg/2ml | 10 ampoules

Hydroxocobalamin Acetate Sterop is a solution for injection and oral administration. It contains hydroxocobalamin acetate, a form of vitamin B12. This vitamin is essential for red blood cell production, proper nervous system function and metabolism.

Indication

This drug is used in the treatment of:

• Neuropathies caused by vitamin B12 deficiency.
• Certain forms of anemia, such as pernicious anemia.

Directions for use

Always use Hydroxocobalamin Acetate Sterop exactly as described in the package insert or as told to you by your doctor or pharmacist. Administration may be intramuscular (into a muscle) or, in emergency cases, intravenous (into a vein). Oral administration is also possible at high doses.

Dosage in adults and adolescents:

• Pernicious anemia: 1 mg every other day for 1-2 weeks, followed by 250 micrograms per week until normalization. Maintenance dose: 1 mg every 2-3 months.
• Irreversible deficiencies (e.g., after gastrectomy): 1 mg every 2-3 months for life.
• Neurologic symptoms: 1 to 5 mg daily or every other day intramuscularly.

Dosage in children:

Similar to adults. For oral administration, dissolve the ampule in 100 ml of water, take over 5 days. Daily dosage: 10 ml (1 mg) or 20 ml (2 mg).

Side effects

Like any drug, Hydroxocobalamin Acetate Sterop can cause side effects, including:

• Rare: acne, pain at the injection site.
• Very rarely: anaphylactic reactions.
• Not known: swelling (eyes, lips, throat), difficulty breathing, dizziness, headache, urine discoloration, skin rash, memory impairment.

Storage

• Store below 25°C.
• Protect from light.
• Use immediately after opening.
• Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
