Imodium Duo tablets are used for the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea associated with abdominal cramps and flatulence. The capsule-shaped tablets contain the active ingredient simeticon (125 mg) in addition to 2 mg of loperamide to relieve the unpleasant sensation of gas in the intestines. Imodium Duo is suitable when cramps, bloating and a swollen abdomen occur in addition to acute diarrhea. Loperamide, or loperamide hydrochloride, reduces diarrhea by slowing down enhanced intestinal activity. This active ingredient also promotes the absorption of fluids and electrolytes, preventing dehydration. The active ingredient simeticon causes gas bubbles, which cause cramps and bloating, to dissolve in the intestine and brings relief. Imodium Duo is a medication available without a prescription.
