Loratadine, the active ingredient of Loratadine EG 10 mg, belongs to the group of antihistamines. Loratadine EG is used to:

• Treat the symptoms of allergic rhinitis (e.g., hay fever, allergy to the house dust mite), such as sneezing, a runny or itchy nose, an itchy palate and itchy, red or watery eyes.
• Relieve symptoms such as itching and bumps (caused by chronic urticaria and urticaria of unknown cause (idiopathic urticaria)).

How to use

• Adults and children over 12 years of age: 1 tablet of Loratadine EG once a day (corresponds to 10 mg of loratadine).
• Children aged 2 to 12 years with a body weight of more than 30 kg: 1 tablet Loratadine EG 10 mg once a day (corresponds to 10 mg loratadine).
• Children 2 to 12 years of age with a body weight of 30 kg or less: The 10 mg tablet is not suitable for children with a body weight less than 30 kg.
• Patients with severe liver disease: For adults and children with a body weight of more than 30 kg, the recommended starting dose is 1 tablet of Loratadine EG 10 mg (this corresponds to 10 mg of loratadine) every other day.

Composition

The active substance in Loratadine EG tablets is loratadine. 1 tablet contains 10 mg of loratadine. The other substances in Loratadine EG 10 mg tablets are lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch and magnesium stearate.

Warnings

Contact your doctor or pharmacist before taking Loratadine EG if you suffer from severe liver disease or if you need to undergo a skin test. Use of Loratadine EG 10 mg tablets should be discontinued at least 48 hours before undergoing a skin test, otherwise antihistamines such as loratadine may prevent or attenuate a positive reaction to the skin test.

Side effects may include nervousness, headache, fatigue, drowsiness, insomnia, increased appetite, allergic reactions, dizziness, seizures, increase in heart rate, nausea, dry mouth, gastritis, impaired liver function, rash, hair loss and weight gain.

How to store

Store Loratadine EG out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiration date. This can be found on the box and blister packs after “EXP”. A month and a year are listed there. The last day of that month is the expiration date. There are no special storage conditions for this medicine.
