Marvelon is a contraceptive pill containing the artificial female sex hormones progestogen and oestrogen. As a result of taking Marvelon, you may also see an improvement in your skin, particularly if you’re an acne sufferer. Nearly all women can take Marvelon. It contains Desogestrel (progestogen) and ethinylestradiol (oestrogen).

If you miss a dose of this contraceptive pill, you should take your Marvelon pill as soon as remember. Missing one dose and then taking the next dose within one day usually means you will still be protected from pregnancy.
However, if you miss two consecutive doses, you are less likely to be protected from pregnancy. In either case, you should consider using alternative contraception methods such as condoms.
You should start taking the Marvelon combined oral contraceptive pill on the first day of your next period if this is possible.
If you begin taking Marvelon in the first five days of your cycle, you will be immediately protected against getting pregnant. It is important to note that if you begin taking Marvelon tablets later in your cycle, you will still need to use other methods of protection like condoms.
Following this, you should continue to take Marvelon for a 21-day period, followed by a 7-day break. You should then continue the process following the 7-day break and repeat the medication cycle.
It is recommended that you wait six weeks after having a baby before using some type of pill. Speak to a member of the team about the options available to you.
