Mercurochrome’s urinary pregnancy test is a single-use immunological test to be used at home for a rapid, clearly visible and qualitative determination of the level of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in a urine sample for early detection of pregnancy.

Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a glycoprotein secreted by the developing placenta shortly after conception. During a normal pregnancy, hCG can be detected in the serum from 7 days after conception. The concentration of hCG increases rapidly, often as low as 100 mIU/ml on the first day after missed menstruation to as high as 100,000 to 200,000 mIU/ml after 10 to 12 weeks of pregnancy. Because hCG appears so quickly after conception and its concentration then increases rapidly during the onset of pregnancy, it is an excellent marker for early detection of pregnancy.

How to use

• Remove the cap of the test to expose the absorbent end.
• Urinse directly onto the test until it is completely soaked (for at least 5 seconds).
• Remove the test and place it on a flat surface with the window facing up.
• Read the result 5 minutes later.
