Properties

PKU 2-prima is an L-amino acid mixture free of phenylalanine and enriched with vitamins, minerals and trace elements adapted to the child’s age. Non-flavored.

• To be used as a protein supplement in the dietary treatment of phenylketonuria and hyperphenylalaninemia
• Age: from 1 year of age.

Directions for use

• 10g powder + 90ml water = 100ml phenylalanine-free amino acid mixture
• A maximum concentration of 10g per 100ml should not be exceeded.

Recommendations

• The amount of PKU 2-prima to be taken, necessary to cover the daily protein requirement (beyond the phenylalanine requirement), depends on age, body weight and individual phenylalanine tolerance. The exact dosage for PKU 2-prima is determined and regularly adjusted by a physician or dietitian.
• The daily amount to be taken should be divided into 3 to 5 proportional servings and should be combined with calculated amounts of other food (e.g. beverages, fruit mousse, solid food,…).
• The daily protein requirement can be covered by using PKU 2-prima alone or by using in combination with PKU 2-mix. The diet should provide sufficient energy and phenylalanine in addition to the amounts of PKU 2-prima to cover the patient’s daily requirements.
• Only to be used under strict medical supervision.
• Not recommended for children under 1 year of age.
• Not suitable as a sole source of nutrition.
• Not suitable for parenteral use.
• Store in a cool, dry place.
