Nurofen for Children Cold, Pain & Fever Relief is a liquid ibuprofen suspension that provides fast and effective relief from the symptoms of colds and flu, including:
Fever
Headache
Sore throat
Body aches
Pains in the ears and teeth
It reduces fever, relieves pain and inflammation, and improves the overall comfort of your child.
The active ingredient in Nurofen for Children Cold, Pain & Fever Relief is ibuprofen. Each 5ml spoonful of the liquid suspension contains 100mg of ibuprofen.
Other ingredients include:
Maltitol liquid
Sodium citrate
Citric acid
Xanthan gum
Sodium saccharin
Potassium sorbate
Purified water
Please note Nurofen for Children Cold, Pain & Fever Relief contains maltitol, which is a sweetener. If your child has fructose intolerance, they should not take this medicine.

Use the syringe provided with this medicine to measure the dose accurately for your child.
Read the enclosed leaflet carefully before use.
This medicine is not suitable for children under 3 months of age or weighing less than 5kg.
Fever caused by immunisation
Babies and children 3 months and over (weighing more than 5kg): One 2.5ml dose if necessary give second 2.5ml dose 6hrs later.
Do not give more than 2 doses in a 24 hour period. If the fever is not reduced, consult your doctor or speak to one of our pharmacists.
Fever, pain and symptoms of cold and flu
3 – 6 months (weighing over 5kg): One 2.5ml dose 3 times a day. Do not use for more than 24 hours. If symptoms persist after 24 hours or worsen, consult your doctor.
6 – 12 months: One 2.5ml dose 3 or 4 times in 24 hrs
1 – 3 years: One 5ml dose 3 times in 24 hrs
4 – 6 years: One 7.5ml (5ml + 2.5ml) dose 3 times in 24 hrs
Do not give more medicine than the stated dose for your child's age.
Do not give Nurofen for Children to your child if they:
Are under 3 months old or weigh less than 5kg
Have (or have had two or more episodes of) a stomach ulcer, perforation or bleeding
Are allergic to ibuprofen or any other ingredient of the product, aspirin or other related painkillers
Are taking other NSAID painkillers, or aspirin with a daily dose above 75mg
Have a fructose intolerance
Speak your doctor or speak to one of our pharmacists before giving this medicine to your child if they have or have ever had asthma, diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, a stroke, heart, liver, kidney or bowel problems or are dehydrated, or has chicken pox.
Seek medical advice before taking this medicine if you're pregnant, trying to get pregnant, are elderly, or are a smoker.
No, you should not take Nurofen for Children Cold, Pain & Fever Relief if you're pregnant or breastfeeding. Ibuprofen, the active ingredient in Nurofen for Children Cold Pain & Fever Relief, is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
