Otrivine Anti-Allergy | 20 ml

Otrivine Anti-Allergy is a nasal spray used in adults 18 years and older to treat the allergic symptoms associated with hay fever and other airborne allergens, such as allergy to pets, dust mites or mold spores. It relieves symptoms such as sneezing, itchy and watery eyes and a runny, itchy or stuffy nose for up to 24 hours. It may take 3 to 4 days for maximum protection to build up. Therefore, it is important to continue using this drug regularly to achieve its full therapeutic effect. After 7 days, do your symptoms not lessen, or even get worse? If so, contact your doctor.

How to use

The recommended dose is two sprays in each nostril once a day (200 micrograms of fluticasone propionate), preferably in the morning. As your symptoms diminish, you may be able to reduce the dose to one spray per nostril daily. If your symptoms are very severe, you may need to increase the dose to two sprays per nostril twice a day until the symptoms subside. However, you may only do this for a short time.

Composition

The active ingredient in Otrivine Anti-Allergy is fluticasone propionate. Each spray delivers 100 mg of suspension. This contains 50 micrograms of fluticasone propionate, which is administered as a dose. The other ingredients in this medicine are glucose (anhydrous), microcrystalline cellulose, carmellose sodium, phenylethyl alcohol, benzalkonium chloride, polysorbate 80, and purified water.

Warnings

Do not use Otrivine Anti-Allergy if you are allergic to fluticasone propionate or any of the other substances in this medicine. Check with your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine if you are taking any medicines containing corticosteroids, such as eczema creams, asthma inhalers, tablets, injections, nasal sprays or eye/nose drops or if you have an infection in your nose or sinuses (nasal cavities) or a cold, high temperature, have recently undergone surgery, had an injury or sores in your nose.

Do not use for more than 3 months at a time unless prescribed by your doctor. Contact your doctor if you experience blurred vision or other visual disturbances. This may be caused by conditions such as cataracts or glaucoma.

Side effects

Like any medicine, Otrivine Anti-Allergy can have side effects, although not everyone gets them. Side effects may include skin rashes, swelling of the mouth or face or breathing problems, changes in your vision, small holes (perforations) in the nose, eye problems such as pain, blurred vision, ulcers in the nose, occasional nosebleeds, sneezing after using the spray, unpleasant taste or smell, dryness or irritation in the nose or throat, headaches, nasal problems such as pain and/or persistent nosebleeds.

Storage

Store this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use Otrivine Anti-Allergy after the expiration date. Store below 30˚C.
