Paracetamol EG Forte 1 g contains paracetamol and belongs to a group of medicines called analgesics (painkillers). Paracetamol EG Forte 1 g is taken to relieve pain and lower fever. Each film-coated tablet contains 1000 mg of paracetamol.
Directions for use
Always take Paracetamol EG Forte 1 g exactly as described in the package insert. Are you unsure about the correct use? If so, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
The tablet should be swallowed with a glass of water. The tablet can be divided into equal doses. Do not exceed the specified dose. The duration of treatment should be as short as possible and limited to the period when symptoms are present.
Dosage
- 33 kg – 41 kg (about 10 – 12 years): 500 mg paracetamol at a time – 6-hour intervals – max 2000 mg (2 tablets) per day.
- 41 – 50 kg (approximately 12 – 15 years): 500 mg paracetamol at a time – 4-hour intervals – max 3000 mg (3 tablets) per day.
- Body weight >50 kg: The usual dosage is 500 mg to 1000 mg every 4 to 6 hours to a maximum of 3 g per day. If pain or fever becomes more severe, the daily dose may be increased to 4 g per day. The administration interval should be at least 4 hours. One should not take more than 1 g at a time and the maximum daily dose is 4 g.
Composition
Each tablet of Paracetamol EG Forte 1 g contains 1 g of paracetamol. The other substances contained in Paracetamol EG Forte 1 g are:
- Tablet core: pregelatinized corn starch, hydroxypropyl cellulose, talc and magnesium stearate.
- Film coating: polyvinyl alcohol, macrogol 3350 and talc.
Warnings
Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking Paracetamol EG Forte 1 g, especially if you have kidney or liver disease, regularly drink large amounts of alcohol, are dehydrated or malnourished, suffer from hemolytic anemia, are deficient in a particular enzyme called glucose-6-phosphatedehydrogenase, are taking other medicines that affect the liver, or are taking other medicines containing paracetamol.
Contact your doctor immediately if you develop a serious illness during treatment with this drug, including severe renal impairment or sepsis.
Possible side effects
Like any medicine, Paracetamol EG Forte 1 g can have side effects, although not everyone gets them. Possible side effects include allergic reactions, depression, confusion, hallucinations, tremors, headache, vision disturbances, edema, abdominal pain, stomach or intestinal bleeding, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, constipation, impaired liver function, liver failure, jaundice, skin rash, itching, sweating, hives, red patches on skin, angioedema with symptoms such as swollen face, lips, throat or tongue, dizziness, general feeling of unwellness, fever, sedation, drug interactions, overdose and poisoning.
