All mint varieties, originally from Europe, have spread throughout the world as far as North America, Australia and even Japan. They have been cultivated since ancient times for their medicinal characteristics. Mentha arvensis is a species of mint that belongs to the Lamiaceae family. It is a grassy plant with a strong fragrance, 10 to 60 cm tall, and with flowers in wreath-like position on the leaf axil. The leaves are oval, pointed and serrated. This hardy plant blooms from July to September and likes canals, marshes and moist meadows.
