Sandoz Calcium D3 is a medication for the prevention and treatment of calcium and vitamin D deficiency in the elderly and osteoporosis.

How to use

Always take Sandoz Calcium D3 exactly as described in this leaflet or as told to you by your doctor or pharmacist. The recommended dosage is:

• Adults and the elderly take 1 chewable tablet per day (equivalent to 1,000 mg of calcium and 880 IU (International Units) of vitamin D3).
• Pregnant women take half a chewable tablet per day (corresponding to 500 mg calcium and 440 IU (International Units) vitamin D3). The daily dosage of half a tablet should not be exceeded.

The chewable tablets should be chewed before swallowing. You may take Sandoz Calcium D3 anytime, with or without food. The tablet can be divided into equal doses.

Composition

The active ingredients in Sandoz Calcium D3 are calcium and cholecalciferol (vitamin D3). Each chewable tablet contains 1,000 mg of calcium (as carbonate) and 880 IU of cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) (corresponding to 22 micrograms of cholecalciferol (vitamin D3)). The other substances in this drug are isomalt (E953), xylitol, sorbitol (E420), anhydrous citric acid, sodium dihydrogen citrate, magnesium stearate, sodium carmellose, flavoring orange “CPB” and flavoring orange “CVT” (both contain sorbitol (E420)), aspartame (E951), potassiumacesulfam, sodium ascorbate, all-rac-alpha-tocopherol, modified (corn) starch, sucrose, medium-chain triglycerides and colloidal silicon dioxide.

Warnings

Do not take Sandoz Calcium D3 if you are allergic to calcium, vitamin D3 or any of the other substances in this medicine. Also, if you have high levels of calcium in your blood or urine, an overactive parathyroid gland, bone marrow cancer, a cancer that has affected your bones, kidney stones, deposits of calcium in your kidneys, excess vitamin D, severe kidney problems, or if you are younger than 18 years old, do not take this medicine.

Like any medicine, Sandoz Calcium D3 can have side effects, although not everyone gets them. Possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, flatulence, bloating, rash, itching, hives, and high calcium levels in your blood or urine.

How to store

Store this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use Sandoz Calcium D3 after the expiration date.
