Terbinafine Viatris is a cream containing the active ingredient terbinafine hydrochloride, a powerful antifungal agent. This drug inhibits the growth of fungi and kills them, which helps treat fungal infections of the skin.

Indication

Terbinafine Viatris is used for:

• The treatment of foot fungus (Tinea pedis).
• The treatment of fungal infections in the groin area and ringworm (Tinea cruris and Tinea corporis).
• The treatment of skin candidiasis (Candida infections of the skin).
• The treatment of pityriasis versicolor (superficial yeast infection).

Directions for use

• Terbinafine Viatris is suitable for external use only.
• Apply 1-2 times daily, depending on the severity and location of the infection.
• Clean and dry the affected skin before application.
• Apply a thin layer of cream and rub in gently.
• Wash hands after use.
• Treatment duration: varies from 1 to 2 weeks depending on the indication.

Composition

Terbinafine Viatris contains per gram: 10 mg terbinafine hydrochloride (corresponding to 8.89 mg terbinafine). Excipients in this medicine are: sodium hydroxide, benzyl alcohol, sorbitan monostearate, cetyl palmitate, cetyl alcohol, cetostearyl alcohol, polysorbate, isopropyl myristate and purified water.

Warnings and Precautions

• Do not use Terbinafine Viatris if you are allergic to terbinafine hydrochloride or any of the excipients.
• Suitable for external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes.
• If the cream accidentally gets into the eyes, rinse immediately with water and consult a doctor.
• Discontinue use if signs of an allergic reaction appear (such as skin rash, swelling, difficulty breathing).
• Not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
• Use during pregnancy only on doctor’s advice. Do not use during breastfeeding due to possible transmission through breast milk.
• Contains benzyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol and cetostearyl alcohol – these may cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis).

Side effects

Like any medicine, Terbinafine Viatris can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. Possible side effects are:

• Common: itching, scaling of the skin.
• Uncommon: skin irritation, redness, burning sensation.
• Rare: eye irritation, dry skin, contact dermatitis.
• Discontinue use with severe allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, lips or throat, or difficulty breathing.

Storage

• Keep out of reach of children.
• Do not use after the expiration date (indicated on the package).
• Do not freeze. Keep in original container and close tube tightly.
• Discard tube after 28 days from opening.
