Lactosir is a lactic acid inhibitor. During efforts of high intensity, large amounts of H+ are formed. This causes the muscles to acidify and fatigue occurs.
- Beta-alanine increases the natural lactic acid blocker in the muscles and thus inhibits acidification.
Composition
Carnosine
Carnosine is a dipeptide consisting of beta-alanine and L-histidine that is found in muscles.
- Carnosine is a natural substance that has a buffering effect in muscles.
- So, the more carnosine in the muscles, the less acidification and muscle fatigue will occur during intensive exercise.
- The amount of carnosine in the muscle contributes to the performance during short maximum efforts involving acidification.
Oral administration of carnosine itself does not increase carnosine concentration in the muscles. Numerous studies show that oral administration of beta-alanine does increase carnosine concentrations in muscle. Lactosir (= 800mg of beta-alanine per capsule) can improve buffering in the muscles, reducing acidification and muscle fatigue.
