Measuring fever in the ear

The temperature can be measured in the right or left ear. The thermometer measures infrared radiation emitted by the eardrum and ear canal. That radiation is collected by the sensor and converted into temperature values. The best results are obtained if infrared radiation is collected from the middle ear (eardrum). Radiation emitted from the surrounding tissue leads to lower readings.

Measuring Fever on the Forehead

The thermometer measures infrared radiation emitted by the skin on the forehead, temples and surrounding tissue. The radiation is collected by the sensor and converted into temperature values. The most accurate values are obtained if you scan the entire area, from one temple to the other.
