Indication
Voltaren Emulgel Forte Gel is used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation and swelling of a number of painful conditions of the muscles and joints. It can be used in adults and adolescents 14 years of age and older for the topical treatment of inflammation following injuries to tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints, and inflammation of the tissue around the tendon or soft tissue around the joints not related to acute injury.
Directions for use
Always use Voltaren Emulgel Forte exactly as stated in this package insert or as told to you by your doctor or pharmacist. Apply the gel to the painful area every 12 hours (preferably morning and evening). The amount needed will vary depending on the size of the painful or swollen area; an amount the size of a cherry to a walnut will usually be sufficient.
Composition
Each gram of Voltaren Emulgel Forte contains 23.2 mg of diclofenac diethylamine, corresponding to 20 mg of sodium diclofenac (2%). The other substances in this drug are butylated hydroxytoluene (E 321), carbomer, cocoyl caprylocaprate, diethylamine, isopropyl alcohol, liquid kerosene, macrogolcetostearyl ether, oleyl alcohol, propylene glycol (E 1520), perfume Eucalyptus Sting (containing benzyl alcohol, citronellol, coumarin, d-limonene, eugenol, geraniol and linalool) and purified water.
Warnings
DO NOT use Voltaren Emulgel Forte Gel on skin conditions such as cuts, open wounds or on skin with a rash or eczema. Stop treatment if a rash occurs after application of the medicine. Do not apply an excessive dose or do not apply for an extended period of time unless under medical advice. Be careful so that no Voltaren Emulgel Forte gets into the eyes. If this does happen, flush eyes thoroughly with clear water. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if any discomfort persists.
Possible side effects
Like any medicine, Voltaren Emulgel Forte can have side effects. Not everyone experiences them. Side effects include mild and transient reactions at the site of application. In very rare cases, allergic reactions may occur. If you show any of the following signs of allergy, STOP using Voltaren Emulgel Forte and consult a doctor or pharmacist immediately: rash with blistering; hives; wheezing, shortness of breath or a feeling of tightness in the chest (asthma); swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat.
