Zasetic 1 mg/ml | 10 x 0.6 ml

Zasetic is an eye drop solution without preservative and is used as a local antiseptic for the treatment of certain infections of the eye and surrounding structures such as:

• Inflammation of the outer membrane of the eye (conjunctivitis).
• Inflammation of certain parts of the eye: the conjunctiva and cornea (keratoconjunctivitis).
• Local inflammation of the edges of the eyelids, often at the base of the eyelashes (blepharitis).
• Chronic inflammation of the tear sacs (dacryocystitis).

Zasetic is also used to disinfect the conjunctival sacs (the space between the eyelids and the eye) before surgery. Zasetic contains an ocular antiseptic for bacteria.

How to use

The recommended dose is one drop 4 to 6 times a day into the conjunctival sac (the space between the lower eyelids and the eye) of the affected eye(s). Avoid prolonged or frequently repeated treatments, as the bacteria may become resistant to the product. For this reason, you are advised not to exceed 8 treatment days.

Composition

The active ingredient in Zasetic is hexamidine diisetionate. 1 ml contains 1 mg of hexamidine diisetionate. The other substances in this medicine are boric acid, borax, sodium chloride and water for injections.

Warnings

Do not use Zasetic if you are allergic to hexamidine or any of the other substances in this medicine. Contact your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine. Stop treatment and contact your doctor if your condition does not improve after 8 days or if new symptoms appear (redness, eye pain or blurred vision).

Possible side effects

Like any medicine, Zasetic can have side effects. The following side effects may occur: Local allergic reaction (redness of the eye, swelling and redness of the eyelids, itching).

Storage instructions

Store Zasetic below 25°C. Do not use this medicine after the expiration date. You can find this on the box, sachet and multidose container. The last day of that month is the expiration date.

Zasetic does not affect visual acuity but may cause temporary blurred vision or other visual disturbances that may affect your ability to drive or use machines. If blurred vision occurs, do not drive or operate machinery until your vision is clear again.
