Carmenthin 90 mg/50 mg | 42 capsules

Carmenthin 90 mg/50 mg is a plant-based medicine for the treatment of gastrointestinal symptoms, particularly mild spasms, flatulence, bloating and abdominal pain. Carmenthin 90 mg/50 mg is indicated for use in adults and adolescents 12 years of age and older.

Directions for use

Take the capsules whole with sufficient liquid (e.g. one glass of water) at least 30 minutes before meals (preferably morning and afternoon). The capsules may also be taken without following a meal. The capsules should not be chewed, crushed or broken before swallowing to avoid premature release of the active ingredient.

Dosage

• Adolescents over 12 years of age, adults and elderly: 1 gastro-resistant capsule twice daily.

The gastro-resistant capsules should be taken until symptoms disappear. This is usually within 2 to 4 weeks. Contact your doctor if symptoms persist or worsen after 2 weeks. During periods when symptoms are more persistent, the gastric juice-resistant capsules may continue to be taken for up to 3 months per treatment course.

Composition

One gastro-resistant soft capsule contains as active ingredients 90 mg Mentha x piperita L., aetheroleum (peppermint oil) and 50 mg Carum carvi L., aetheroleum (caraway oil). The other substances in this drug are: Succinylated gelatin; glycerol 85%; polysorbate 80; propylene glycol; glycerol monostearate 40-55; methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer (1:1) dispersion 30%; triglycerides, medium chain; sodium dodecyl sulfate; sorbitol, liquid (noncrystallizing).

Warnings

Contact a doctor or pharmacist if your symptoms persist or worsen while taking this medicine, or if any side effects occur that are not listed in this package insert. If unexplained abdominal pain persists or worsens for more than two weeks, or occurs along with symptoms such as fever, jaundice, vomiting or blood in the stool, medical advice should be sought immediately.

Possible side effects

Like any medicine, Carmenthin can have side effects. Not everyone gets them. Possible side effects include heartburn, nausea, belching (eructation), perianal burning and allergic reactions (e.g., redness, swelling, itching).

Storage instructions

Store this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiration date. You can find this on the box and blister. There it says one month and one year. The last day of that month is the expiration date. Store below 30 °C.
