Frequently asked questions about Imodium 2 mg
When should I take Imodium?
Imodium should be taken at the first signs of diarrhea. The initial dose is 2 capsules for adults and 1 capsule for children; then take 1 capsule after each subsequent loose bowel movement.
Why not take Imodium for diarrhea?
Imodium is precisely for the treatment of diarrhea. It helps slow the movements of your intestines, making bowel movements less watery. However, it should not be used with certain types of diarrhea such as those caused by certain bacteria or with blood in the stool.
Can Imodium cause heart problems?
Serious heart problems (symptoms such as rapid or irregular heartbeat) have been reported in patients who have taken too much loperamide, the active ingredient in Imodium. It is important not to exceed the recommended dosage.
Is Imodium good for abdominal pain?
Imodium can help with abdominal pain caused by diarrhea, as it slows down the movements of your intestines. However, if you have abdominal pain without diarrhea, it is not recommended to use Imodium.
