Medica Throat Tablets Honey is a lozenge for local action in the mouth and pharynx. The tablets have an antiseptic and local analgesic effect and are indicated in the treatment of symptoms of sore throat, a red throat, conditions of the pharynx associated with irritation. In case of bacterial infection with fever, additional treatment is required. Medica Throat Tablets Honey does not contain sugar, so it is also suitable for people with diabetes.
Usage and dosage
The recommended dosage is:
- Adults: 6 to 10 tablets per day.
- Children 6 years and older: 3 to 5 tablets per day.
The tablets are sucked into the mouth. Please note that this medicine should not be used for long periods of time. If the symptoms do not diminish or even worsen after 3 to 4 days, contact your doctor.
Composition
The active substances in this medicine are: chlorhexidine dihydrochloride 5 mg – lidocaine hydrochloride monohydrate 1 mg. The other ingredients in this medicine are: sorbitol (E420) – magnesium stearate – anhydrous citric acid – stevia – honey flavour (contains sodium and sulphites).
Warnings
Medica Throat Tablets Honey should not be used if you are allergic to chlorhexidine dihydrochloride, lidocaine hydrochloride monohydrate or any of the other substances in this medicine. It should also not be used in children under 6 years of age. It is important not to take more than the recommended dose and not to use the drug simultaneously with other disinfectants or drugs for mild Alzheimer’s disease (cholinesterase inhibitors).
Possible side effects
Like any medicine, Medica Throat Tablets Honey can have side effects, but not everyone gets them. Possible side effects include allergic skin and mucosal reactions, taste disturbances, a burning sensation on the tongue and severe allergic reactions (anaphylactic reactions). Long-term, continuous use may cause browning of the teeth.
