Nurofen for Children 60 mg | 10 suppositories

Nurofen for Children 60 mg is an ibuprofen-based medicine and is used for the symptomatic treatment of fever and mild to moderate pain in children over 6 kg and not under 3 months of age.

• Recommended when administration by mouth is not possible, such as in cases of vomiting.

Directions for use

Always use Nurofen for Children 60 mg exactly as described in this package insert or as told to you by your doctor or pharmacist. The lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest period necessary to relieve symptoms. If you have an infection, consult a doctor immediately if symptoms (such as fever and pain) persist or get worse. Suppositories are intended for administration through the anus with the tip of the suppository being inserted first. To facilitate insertion, the suppository can be warmed in the hand.

Dosage

• Children between 6 and 8 kg (3 to 9 months): 1 suppository, if needed every 6 to 8 hours with a maximum of 3 suppositories per 24 hours.
• Children between 8 and 2.5 kg (9 months to 2 years): 1 suppository, if necessary every 6 hours with a maximum of 6 suppositories per 24 hours.

Composition

The active substance in Nurofen for Children 60 mg is ibuprofen. 1 suppository contains 60 mg ibuprofen. The other substance in this medicine is hard fat.

Warnings

Do not use Nurofen for Children 60 mg:

• If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to ibuprofen or other similar painkillers (NSAIDs) or to any of the substances in this medicine (see section 6).
• If you have ever suffered from shortness of breath, asthma, runny nose, swelling of your face and/or hands or hives after using ibuprofen, acetylsalicylic acid or other similar painkillers (NSAIDs).
• If you showed a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation after previous NSAIDs treatments.
• If you currently have or have had a gastrointestinal ulcer (peptic ulcer) or stomach bleeding (two or more episodes).
• If you have cerebrovascular or other active bleeding.
• If you have unexplained disorders of blood formation.
• If you have severe dehydration (caused by vomiting, diarrhea or insufficient fluid intake).
• If you have severe liver failure, kidney failure or heart failure.
• During the last 3 months of pregnancy.
• In infants who weigh less than 6 kg (under 3 months of age).

Possible side effects.

Like any medicine, Nurofen for Children 60 mg can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. The side effects that are most common are gastrointestinal symptoms such as heartburn, stomach pain and nausea, indigestion, diarrhea, vomiting, flatulence and constipation, and mild bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract that may cause anemia in rare cases. Refer to the package insert for a list of known side effects and their frequencies.

Storage

Store Nurofen for Children 60 mg out of the reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date.
