Pyralvex has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties and is used as an adjunct to local treatment of inflammation of the oral mucosa.

Directions for Use
- The recommended dosage is 2 to 4 applications per day.
- Do not use Pyralvex in children under 12 years of age.
- Apply the liquid to the inflamed oral mucosa by dabbing it on with a brush or a cotton swab.
- Immediately after treatment, do not rinse your mouth with water or other liquids (such as
mouthwashes) and do not eat or drink
anything. This is because the active ingredients in Pyralvex may be washed away
as a result. - A bottle of Pyralvex should be used by only one person.
Composition
The active ingredients in this medication are: Rhubarb extract (approximately 50 mg), corresponding to 4.8 mg of anthraquinone derivatives per mL of solution. Salicylic acid 10 mg/mL solution. The other ingredients in this medication are: 96% alcohol, purified water.
Warnings
Do not use Pyralvex if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in this medication or if you are a patient with alcoholism being treated with disulfiram. Pyralvex may cause discoloration of the teeth if you have dentures or dental prostheses.
Possible side effects
- Very common side effects (i.e., occurring in more than 1 in 10 patients) include:
Temporary pain or a burning sensation at the application site. - Common side effects (i.e., they occur in fewer than 1 in 10 but more than 1 in 100
patients) include:
Temporary yellow discoloration of the teeth or oral mucosa. - Side effects that occur very rarely:
Hypersensitivity reactions. - Side effects with unknown frequency:
Skin rash and hives (urticaria)
