Rhinivex 1 mg/ml Nasal Spray is used for the short-term treatment of nasal congestion with runny nose associated with a common cold or sinusitis. The active ingredient, xylometazoline, constricts blood vessels in the nasal mucosa. This reduces the swelling of the nasal mucosa for various reasons and makes breathing through the nose easier.
Directions for use
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package insert or as told by your doctor or pharmacist. The recommended dose is 1 spray in each nostril, 3 times a day. There should be 8 to 10 hours between 2 administrations. Do not exceed 3 administrations per nostril per day.
Warnings
Like other medicines that reduce swelling of the nasal mucosa, do not use Rhinivex 1 mg/ml Nasal Spray for more than one week in a row. Prolonged or excessive use may cause “rebound” congestion. Contact your doctor if there is no improvement within a week. Rhinivex 1 mg/ml Nasal Spray should not be used in children under 12 years of age. A different strength is available for children aged 2 to 12 years.
Possible side effects
Like any medicine, Rhinivex 1 mg/ml Nasal Spray can have side effects. Not everyone gets them. Possible side effects may include headache, dry nose or nasal pain, nausea, burning sensation, nosebleed, tremor, dizziness, insomnia, vision problems, hypersensitivity reactions, increased blood pressure, irregular or rapid heartbeat.
How to store
Store this remedy out of the sight and reach of children. Store below 25°C. Do not freeze. An opened bottle can be used for up to 1 month after first opening.
